AnitaB.org Honors Five Trailblazing Women Technologists with Abie Awards at 2022 Grace Hopper Celebration

These distinguished leaders will be awarded for their accomplishments in technical leadership, dedication to social impact, and significant contributions to innovation.

AnitaB.org, the global nonprofit focused on intersectional gender and pay parity in tech, announced today the 2022 Abie Award winners for the following categories: Technical Leadership, Emerging Leader in Honor of Denice Denton, Student of Vision, Change Agent, and Technology Entrepreneurship.

The winners will be recognized at this year’s Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC), the world’s largest gathering of women and non-binary technologists, happening September 20-23, 2022, at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) in Orlando, Florida, and virtually. This year’s theme, Next is NOW, is reflected in the selection of keynotes, featured speakers, activists, and storytellers.

The 2022 Abie Award Winners are:

  • Daphne Koller, Ph.D. (San Francisco, California) – Technical Leadership Award Winner
    • The Technical Leadership Abie Award is AnitaB.org’s most prestigious award. It celebrates a woman or non-binary technologist who led or developed a product, process, or innovation that made a notable impact on business or society.
  • Kris Dorsey, Ph.D. (Boston, Massachusetts) – Emerging Leader Award in Honor of Denice Denton Award Winner
    • The Emerging Leader Award in Honor of Denice Denton recognizes a junior faculty member for high-quality research and significant positive impact on diversity. Denice Denton was an engineering faculty member and the first female dean of a school of engineering in a major U.S. research university.
  • Katherine Vergara (Santiago, Chile) – Student of Vision Award Winner
    • The Student of Vision Abie Award recognizes and celebrates an undergraduate or graduate student who has a unique vision of how technology innovation can solve significant problems and how inspiring more women enables meaningful innovation.
  • Paula Coto (Ciudad Autonoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina) – Change Agent Award Winner
    • The Change Agent Abie Award honors an outstanding international woman (non-U.S. resident with an emphasis on developing countries) who created or expanded opportunities for girls and women in technology.
  • Neha Narkhede (Menlo Park, California) – Technology Entrepreneurship Award Winner
    • The Technology Entrepreneurship Abie Award recognizes a woman or non-binary technologist who is the builder of an innovative, ground-breaking, and game-changing technology venture startup (within a small or large organization).

The Abie Award winners, and their achievements, are honored at Grace Hopper Celebration. Each winner receives an expenses-paid trip to attend GHC, a cash prize, and an opportunity to speak at the conference.
